Early Warning Data

The organisations Flister and Flitsmeister collect and distribute ‘Early Warning Data’ from the Dutch road network. The data is collected from all objects that present a danger on the roadway. This includes ambulances, police cars, road supervisors, arrow warning trailers and truck mounted attenuators. By warning motorists in advance for upcoming risks on their route, safety on the road network can significantly be improved.

Forewarned is forearmed!

EBO van Weel, in collaboration with Flister and Flitsmeister, has created an API platform with which automatic warning messages can be generated for traffic systems that endanger the road safety.

When a traffic system is a dangerous object on a road section, a GPS position is automatically transmitted to the servers of Traffic Fleet and Flister. The notification is registered and processed into a traffic information message. This message is then retrieved by various traffic applications, including Flitsmeister. These applications then warn the motorists that are approaching the dangerous object in advance.

Enhance safety for road workers

There are still too many accidents involving road workers on the busy road network in the Netherlands. Figures show that in recent years there has been an increase in the number of accidents of several dozen percent. By pushing a warning message one and a half kilometres in advance to the smartphones and on-board navigation equipment of approaching motorists, the safety of road workers is increased.

Less equipment means reduced costs

Another important advantage of the connection is that no additional equipment is needed in the vehicle or traffic system. The hardware, software and connectivity of the system are used to generate and send the automatic alerts. This results in immediate cost reductions for installation and maintenance.
